Who is reflexology for?

Reflexology treats your whole body so has benefits for people with both chronic conditions and those in good health.  Reflexology is suitable for people of all ages – even babies and children.  It is one of the safest and least invasive complementary therapies available; it simply involves you removing your shoes and socks and can be easily enjoyed in the comfort of your own home.

What is reflexology?

Reflexology is a complementary therapy that has been practiced for over 5000 years.  It is based on the principle that different points, or reflexes, on the feet, lower legs, hands, face and ears correspond with specific areas of the body.  We believe that stimulating these points can help aid relaxation, improve your mood, release tension in your body, enhance sleep, and generally improve your sense of wellbeing.  Regular reflexology balances your body and mind, allowing you to better deal with the stresses of modern life.

What are the benefits?

Reflexology is deeply relaxing and very enjoyable, but it also can help manage a host of health issues.  Your body has the ability to heal itself; following illness, stress, or injury it can be in a state of “imbalance” and vital systems can be blocked, preventing your body from functioning optimally. Reflexology can be used to release these blockages; restoring and maintaining your natural balance.

 - Sleep disorders

 - Poor Circulation

And other stress-related issues such as;

- Women’s health – menstruation, pregnancy, postpartum, and menopause

- Fertility

My areas of interest

I see clients from all walks of life but I have special interest in:

Stress

Stress is present in all our lives – the stress response is a vital reaction; in dangerous or exciting situations we release hormones which give us a surge of energy to deal with stressful situations.  A little bit of stress is good for us, but when ongoing it affects the body and mind.  It can feel overwhelming at times, and reflexology can help you relax and restore the balance in your life and body.

Pregnancy & Postpartum

Reflexology is a beautifully relaxing and gentle treatment to receive during your pregnancy, and can be helpful in alleviating common symptoms such as nausea, heartburn, tiredness and insomnia, balancing hormones and emotions, and even with constipation and hemorrhoids.  And after your baby is born you can continue having treatments to help with your postpartum healing; to re-balance hormones, relieve muscle tension, boost milk production, ease feelings of anxiety, and boost energy levels to name just a few.

Fertility & Reproductive health

Many women suffer from painful, heavy or irregular periods – by stimulating the reproductive reflexes and balancing hormones reflexology can help you manage your menstrual cycle.  Reflexology can also be used by women (and men) who are trying to conceive – by providing relaxation, stress relief and emotional support, but also through helping regulate menstrual cycles and ovulation, balancing hormones and reproductive organs and also boosting sperm production.  Reflexology can also provide relief to women entering the perimenopausal and menopausal phase of their life.

Insomnia and sleep disorders

By relaxing the body and helping the release of hormones, reflexology can really help improve the quality of your sleep.  Many people fall asleep while having a treatment as it is so relaxing.  As we view the body holistically, reflexology will also look to relieve the cause of your sleep problems such as anxiety, stress, grief, fear or pain.
