What will my first reflexology session be like?

If it's your first visit you will complete and intake form and we'll have a brief discussion about your health history wellness goals. We will then go into the treatment room and you'll lie down on a massage table on your back and offered a blanket.  You will be asked to remove your shoes and socks – you will never be asked to undress further for reflexology.
Your feet will be wiped down and I will apply some cream and use massage and gentle pressure techniques to stimulate reflex points on the feet and work on any problem areas.  I begin with a relaxation sequence on both feet before carrying out a complete reflexology sequence on each foot covering reflex points for the head, upper body and limbs, the spinal area, the reproductive areas, the digestive system. And finally I close the session by setting an intention for release and then grounding you.

What is the difference between reflexology and massage?

Massage manipulates soft tissue of the body (mainly the muscles). Reflexology uses some massage techniques, but also compression techniques to specific reflex points on the feet (or hands). These points relate to certain parts, organs and glands of the body which when stimulated, trigger that part of the body and help restore balance, reduce stress and promote self healing. Both are extremely relaxing and rejuvenating.

Does reflexology tickle?

Good question. No, it does not. I am incredibly ticklish and have never found it to tickle me.  While the pressure applied is not painful it is quite firm so therefore does not tickle.

What should I expect from my first reiki session?

If it's your first visit you will complete and intake form and we'll have a brief discussion about your health history wellness goals. We will then go into the treatment room and you'll lie down on a massage table on your back and offered a blanket.  I'll begin the session asking you to close your eyes and focus on your breath.  I will then place my hands on or just above each of your energy chakras - you can let me know how comfortable you are with physical contact and I'll adjust the session accordingly.  During the session you may experience physical sensations of tingling, twitches, temperature fluctuations, vibrations, lightness/heaviness, energy surges, slight pulls or you may see colours and images.  Some clients become emotional during or after the session, this is natural and a release of energy.  At the end of the session I will burn a little sage to close the session to cleanse your aura and protect your energy.  There will be time at the end to talk about any questions you have following the treatment.

Do you offer express or taster treatments?

An hour really is the optimal time for a treatment. But I can offer express treatments that focus on one area e.g. ‘relaxation and stress relief’ if you are short on time, please contact me and I will try and accommodate your needs.

Do you offer gift certificates?

Yes! Reflexology is such a thoughtful and generous gift. I am happy to provide gift certificates for single treatments or for a bundle of treatments, please contact me to discuss your needs (email info@cestlaviewellness.ca for more info)

How do I pay for my treatment?

I am happy to accept payment by cash or e-transfer for in-home visits.  Treatments at C'est La Vie Wellness will be paid directly to the clinic by credit or debit card.

Is reiki or reflexology covered by my health insurance?

I am unable to direct bill for any treatments.  Some insurance companies cover reflexology and reiki but you should check with your provider to see if your policy includes this therapy.

What if I need to cancel my appointment?

Please give me 24 hours notice to cancel or reschedule an appointment wherever possible. I do understand that emergencies happen and will always do my best to accommodate your needs but I do reserve the right to charge for late cancellations or refuse further appointments.

What is your refund policy?

I don’t take upfront payment for single treatments. Where a bundle of six treatments are purchased I am unable to refund unused treatments. Extreme circumstances will always be considered on a case-by-case basis.

How many treatments do I need to feel the benefits?

When you have your consultation we will discuss and agree on your treatment plan including suggested number and frequency of treatments.  If you have a specific issue that you would like to be worked on, it is typical for the body to need at least 2-3 sessions to adjust to the effects of reflexology and start producing the best results.

Can I have my baby or child with me?

This is really up to you.  To get the most out of your treatment I would suggest ensuring that your children are being looked after by someone else.  But as a mother I know that this isn’t always possible, especially when you have a new baby! Some mums find it relaxing to hold or nurse their newborn while having a treatment, while some would rather not. So let’s have a chat to discuss your needs and I’m sure we can work something out.

I'm pregnant. Can I get reflexology?

Yes, I am a trained Fertility and Maternity Reflexologist and am happy to treat you all through your pregnancy. The first trimester is a delicate period for the body so some people choose wait until the second trimester to start treatments. But there is nothing I could do that would harm you or your growing baby.  If a healthy and viable pregnancy is what your body wants, reflexology will only help support that.

Do you treat patients with serious health problems?

While reflexology is an extremely safe therapy, it is important to be aware of a few contraindications or times when reflexology might not be a wise choice or I may ask you to check with your family doctor before starting treatments. These could include you having a contagious disease or an injury to your foot.  Or they could include certain ongoing conditions such as vascular disease or certain forms of epilepsy.  We will always discuss your health during your consultation, but if you want to check anything beforehand please give me a call or email me to discuss.

Can I have reflexology if I have a verucca?

Unfortunately I am not able to perform foot reflexology if you have a verruca, wart or other contagious skin condition (e.g fungal infection/athletes foot). I would be happy to offer hand reflexology instead or reschedule an appointment for when you have had the condition treated.

Do you help treat terminal or chronic illness?

Yes, I have worked with cancer patients and clients with chronic conditions.  I will never approach treatment as trying to heal your condition but I am happy to provide emotional support and help ease your physical symptoms where I can.

What is your COVID policy?

C'est la Vie Wellness are following Ontario Public Health guidelines and will ask you to complete a screening ahead of your appointment to check that you are feeling well.

What safety measures have you put in place for COVID-19?

I have been fully vaccinated with three doses of Pfizer vaccine.

We encourage staff and clients to stay home if they are feeling unwell.
