Let it all go.

Holistic therapies like reflexology and reiki are great for releasing emotion that has been held inside the body.

Sometimes after a session we experience a healing response which is the body’s very physical way of releasing energy and emotion.

.

Here are some releases that I have experienced both as a practitioner and a patient:

.

- Flushing it out! It’s very common to feel thirsty or have a dry mouth after a session. It’s also common to need to pee right after and to pee more frequently for the period right after the session. This is a great sign that your body is starting a gentle detox.

.

- Poop it out! Every time I have reflexology it clears me out! It’s a great way to release physical and emotional waste that has been held in the digestive system.

.

- Sweat it out! Hot or cold flashes are a common experience and a sure sign that you are having an energetic release. I sometimes catch them too during a session.

.

- Cry it out! It’s unusual for me not to have a cry during a reiki session, and I’ve definitely had clients cry during or at the end of sessions. It’s a super common way of releasing emotion.

.

- Throw it up! This one is less common but I have known it to happen; particularly if a lot of worry is being held in the stomach.

.

Healing responses like these are a sign that your body is letting go of that which has been holding it back. They are usually mild and tend to last around 24 hours maximum. You can help that release by:

.


- Drinking more water and healthy fluids

- Having an Epsom salt bath

- Going to bed at a reasonable time so your body can heal while you are sleeping

- Allowing yourself space and time to release and eliminate those emotions and toxins as needed
